Mechanism of coup, contracoup injury

Mechanism of injury depicts the brain rebounding against anterior wall of the skull creating the coup, contra-coup type injury. The point of initial impact is in the posterior occipital area but the brain contusion is seen on the anterior frontal portion of the brain.
